What makes a good warm-up game? #pechat #pegeeks #PhysEd

I am a firm believer that a QUALITY warm-up game or activity is critical to setting the tone of any PE lesson.  I have come up with the following criteria that I strive to meet with each warm-up game that I play…

Warm Up Games Checklist

Here are a few games in PDF form that I believe meet the criteria…

Bean Bag Dodge

Disco Tiggy

Plug the Hole

Hello World

Well here we go, my first of hopefully many blog posts. I guess the first thing to do would be to introduce myself and what I hope to gain from entering the social media world of twitter and blogging.

I am a Primary Physical Education teacher in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I am always on the look out for ways to improve my program and the learning outcomes for the students I teach, but more than that I am passionate about developing and promoting a life long love of physical activity and sport with the students that I work with. I have a particular interest in games and activities that “get kids active”. Games with a focus on fun, participation and energy. Games that get kids huffing and puffing in a very short time, but more on that at a later date…

I am also the father of two very energetic seven year old twin boys who keep me on my toes. They love sport and participate in Football, Taekwondo, Tennis, Athletics, Cross-Country, Cricket and Swimming. Lucky for us they do the same sports at this stage.

Special thanks to @FizzicalEd for starting me on this journey, @mrkrndvs for taking the time to show me how to use this media (many more chats to come I think) and @JoeyFeith for inspiring me with the following keynote speech.
